You’re stepping up into a larger boat, you're a 1st time owner, or the boat’s just new-to-you. It’s common for the insurance company to require some orientation & sailing instruction followed by an assessment of your skills.
If you’re a beginner or still somewhat new to sailing then you’ll benefit from time spent helming the boat, and handling and trimming lines & sails.
Cruising's in your future? Some assisted passages will help you prepare for life underway and being offshore.
Day Trips to learn and practice:
departure planning, safety & emergencies, docking, anchoring, mooring, close-quarters handling, tides & currents, rules of the road, sailing at night, bridges & locks, Aids to Navigation, Lights & Sounds
The stuff that sailing is made of: hoisting, setting, trimming and dousing sails; steering a course; tacking & gybing; beating & reaching; reefing; sail plan selection; plus occasional mayhem & pandemonium
Put it all together on a passage with guidance & and an extra hand while making your first Coastal & Offshore passages: route planning, weather planning, provisioning, course plotting, solo watchkeeping, night watches, running non-stop
Closing on a boat soon?
Your schedule permitting, we can take care of the training & insurance check-out, spend a few days working on basic boat handling, then boost your progress while you sail on the initial delivery.
